Barranquilla's Carnival

The carnival was declared as oral and immaterial patrimony of the humanity. The carnival begins with the reading of the decree, together with his pre carnivals, coronation of the queen and the night of guacherna

Barranquilla's carnival is celebrated 4 days before the Ash Wednesday. In its first day the battle of flowers is celebrated; it treats of that ours sovereign during the tour it throws flowers to the spectators,they spend the most beautiful carrosas , the best extras and and different queens.

 On the second day the great tradition parade is celebrated; as he says his name treats of the parade of the custome and traditional dances of Barranquilla that they are:

- The dance of the scrawl 

- The cumbiambas
- The groups of letanias   

- The marimonda 

- The torito        

- The congo

- The monocuckoo 

- Boldface puloy
- Maria moñitos

                                                            

On the third day the great parade of fantasy is celebrated; it is a requirement of the parade that the customs  must be of beautiful , in this event it is traditional that carrosas don’t pass by as in the battle flowers, on the same day  the festival  orchestras is also celebrated.

   

On the fourth day Joselito's death is celebrated; this symbolizes the end of the carnivals. It is traditional that his burial must be scandalous and full of  weeping scene .Joselito was representing the happiness of the carnival, this personage dies on Tuesday but it returns to life next year.
